The St. Lucia National Trust recently hosted its fourth annual Youth Environment Forum, with the continued support of one of its corporate partners, the East Caribbean Financial Holding Company (ECFH). The objective of the forum was to empower young people to become environmental and heritage conservation advocates in their homes, schools and communities.
This year the Youth Environment Forum was held simultaneously in the north and south of the island, under the theme: “Green Economy: Does it include you?” In addition to classes on environmental issues such as climate change and its effects, and field trips to various parts of the island – ECFH also participated in the programme by presenting to the students on its environmental programme - Greedy for Green.
ECFH’s Greedy for Green involves the adoption of environmentally-friendly practices across the Group’s subsidiaries, support for external projects to that promote environmental conservation and awareness, as well as influence responsible environmental practices and behaviours.
The ECFH Group was proud to collaborate with the Trust on this initiative, one which is vital to the environmental education of the island’s youth and to the protection of the environment itself. Support of this forum allows ECFH to honour its commitment to youth development and the environment – two pillars of its Corporate Social Responsibility mandate.
