The East Caribbean Financial Holding Company (ECFH) has recognized and documented the achievements of some of St. Lucia’s most outstanding young persons.
The ECFH 2013 Calendar dubbed The Promise of a Brighter Future…“celebrates the achievements of our young stars who light the way for others to follow.”
The calendar was launched during a special event last week where these young persons and their families were presented with framed images of their featured months and also got an opportunity to meet the ECFH’s Senior Executive team.
Outgoing Group Managing Director at ECFH, Robert Norstrom told the young stars: “We at ECFH celebrate your success and achievements thus far. We recognize excellence when we see it and we are proud to have you associated with our brand. Being featured in this Calendar will not just earn you recognition…it will open-up new doors of opportunity for you. That’s the power of the ECFH brand. The future of this nation and the region is in your hands. Continue to excel and make us proud. Avoid complacency and never settle for less than your best in everything you do.”
The ECFH 2013 Calendar features young St. Lucians who have achieved excellence in various disciplines including academia, music, dance, sports, science and technology and healthcare.
The Candidates
Featured in the ECFH 2013 Calendar is Darcel Frederick, professional dancer/performer, who is living her dream as a member of the cast of The Lion King in London. Twelve-year old Mathematics prodigy, Toussaint Jervais, shares his dream of becoming an astronaut. Kaela Gerald is a rising star in the field of Biomedical Engineering and winner of the 2012 NSBE Award for Academic Excellence. Still in the medical field, Neciah Dorh is making waves as a research and developer of breakthrough health technologies. Tonya Atkins of Pierrot is the Top Female Performer in Common Entrance 2012 with big dreams. Jonas Landwehr is the 2012 Top Male Performer in Common Entrance. He strikes a healthy balance between academics and sports and is eyeing a career in medicine or architecture.
Shan Lucien of Vieux Fort is a singing sensation who knows the value of a good education. Melody Fevrier of Castries is living up to her name, making sweet music and teaching music to kids in the Marchand community orchestra. Jeanelle Scheper is a fierce competitor in the High Jump and a future Olympian for St. Lucia. Taryk Gabriel is a gifted young cricketer and aspiring West Indies opening batsman. Look out for him! In the musical field, Courtney ‘Curty’ Louis is arguably St. Lucia’s top music producer having worked with the likes of Machel Montano, Beenie Man, Shurwayne Winchester and some of St. Lucia’s top soca stars. Javed Samuel of Augier has gone from St. Lucia to Silicon Valley. He is a science and mathematics genius whose full potential is yet to be realized. Teige La Borde is a pint-size livewire who has entrepreneurship in her blood and a passion for success. She is owner-manager of Azuk Creative Services. Dajr Alfred is St. Lucia’s Top CXC Performer for 2012 with 13 Distinctions under his belt. Currently at SALCC, Dajr is one to watch for the future.
Su Ann Robyn Charlery is on a mission to reduce gender inequality and the incidence of HIV infections among St. Lucian women. She was a presenter at the International AIDS Conference in Washington DC in July of 2012. Trent St. Rose is a budding Mathematician who is currently pursuing a BSc in Applied Mathematics at McGill University. He runs a Maths ‘Help Desk’ on Campus. The name Marcellus Cazaubon should definitely ring a bell. He was the shadow Prime Minister in the Youth Parliament of 2010. This Commonwealth Youth Ambassador definitely has his mind set on a future career in Politics in St. Lucia, a path he seems destined for.
Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at ECFH, Mrs Maria Fowell summed it by noting: “ECFH salutes the achievements of these outstanding young St. Lucians in its 2013 Calendar. We are proud to be part of their achievements and to provide the avenue for others to share them through this calendar. This is the first iteration of such a project and we look forward in 2014 to once again reflect the pride, inspiration and excellence of yet another group of outstanding youth”.
